Project: Art Movement Site
Use (X)HTML, CSS, Dreamweaver, and image creation software (Photoshop, Illustrator, etc.) to design and develop a web site about a particular art movement (preferably from the 20th Century). Your client is the Museum of Modern Art. The site should be designed and organized from the perspective of the art movement itself. The site should not only look like work from the movement, but the site architecture, navigation, copy writing, and content presentation mode should be driven by the underlying philosophy of the movement. The site should contain both textual and visual content. Content may include (but is not limited to) an explanation of the movement, a description of artists in the movement, images of work by artists in the movement, a discussion of the contemporary historical culture surrounding the movement. You could further discuss individual works if you deem them particularly important. The site should have multiple sections and at least 10 "pages" of content. This may vary depending on how you choose to organize your content. You will put your site in a folder labeled "art" and upload it to the "sites" directory of your student web site. The first page of the site should be labeled "index.html." You will turn in: 1. a creative brief 2. an architectural site map 3. three mockups 4. user testing documentation 5. a final working site Grading criteria: 1. thoroughness of research (pre-design, post-design, appropriateness of final design to stated goals) 2. interaction design (architecture, menu, navigation, labels, signposts) 3. visual design (fonts, layout, colors, professional use of technology) |
